How do i go online with my ps3?

I have a fairly new ps3. ive tryed to hook up my ps3 online and it sort of worked.

i set up a playstation account thing but everytime i try to connect to the playstation

network to play online, it times out and fails. my router is fine and i can even go on

youtube and other websites on my ps3 but i just cant connect to the playstation

network, please help meHow do i go online with my ps3?
it sounds like you need to contact playstation and talk to them because it might be your ps3
