Does anyone else wish that someone would combine ps3 and xbox online so we could play against one another?

it would be so awesome I really wish someone would do this. Wouldnt it be great if there was just a massive team deathmatch of call of duty 5 with xbox vs ps3 teams.I made this online surveyto show microsoft and sony how much of a demand there is for this. So please go to the link below and fill it out, its only about 5 or 6 questions long and you dont have sign up for anything it will ask you to after you hit submit survey or w/e but you don't have to the results will be submitted either way. Even if you don't think sony and microsoft will do anything atleast you could say you tried. So fill out there survey so we can play ps3 vs 360 and see who is better. If the link don't let you click just copy and paste into the address bar. Thanks.

Obvisouly you don't have to fill out the survey if you don't want to but what do you guys think about idea?

Yes that way we PS3 gamers can show the XBOX fans how it is done!!Does anyone else wish that someone would combine ps3 and xbox online so we could play against one another?
come on now... I'm not trying to be bogus or disrespect by saying this... but you seriously gave best answer just because he sided with PS3 fans??? i gave an in-depth analysis of why it wasn't financial sound for the two companies to merge their online servers and my answer got ignored... =(

There is a demand for this however it isn't possible. There are many reasons this wouldn't work, besides the cost of combining the servers used to host the matches for each individual system. The XBox and PlayStation connect to their servers in different ways, they would have to reconfigure the firmware on the units via an update to allow them to share a server.

Also each company just sank a massive amount of money into developing a LIVE experience that was similar to the real world. They made it a social 3D environment and if they merged all of that money would have been wasted. They would have to throw out that live experience and develop a new environment that both systems would support, which would cost both companies a massive amount of money.

On the business side of the spectrum this isn't plausible because the separation of the two systems is what makes users decide what system they want. If they combined the two then users would have one less reason to decide between the two, and you would also have less people who would find a reason to own both systems.

And who would manage the live system? Their isn't a way two rival companies would be able to work together to manage an online server. They would have to merge a section of there accounting books because it would require workers from both companies to manage it. And eventually one company would disagree with a design or idea that the other company is determined to integrate into the server.

From a marketing and financial standpoint, the cost of doing this just isn't a justifiable expense for these companies.
