ModernWarfare2 (ps3,360,PC) CERT-18, Kids & Parents...?

Just a little curious here.

How many of you that have bought ModernWarfare2 are over 18?

How many of you were asked your age at the shop counter wen you bought it?

How many of you asked your parents or someone old enough to buy it for you?

How many parents bought it for their kids without being asked?

I bought it yesterday, got home and fired up my ps3, played it online and was astonished at how many ';kids'; were playing it and to be honest, spoiling online play with immature behaviour and noise, i do understand that they have been waiting for ages for this game and would be excited to play it but we mustn't forget that it's given an 18 certificate for a reason.

As i understand it, there are parental controls in place within the game that can stop some underage players playing the game online but i have to wonder how many parents buy the game without knowing what's going on or how to even set parental controls on a console.

Every time a game like this comes out, whether its COD, GTA, POSTAL, MORTAL KOMBAT, MANHUNT, PITFIGHTER - the list is endless, there are barrages of hate and horror aimed at the video-game industry for the violence used in the game, isn't it about time the finger should be pointed at the PARENTS for not taking an interest in what's in the game their kids are playing?

I'm not saying all parents are like this but surely there must be something to inform parents of what is included in the game that their kids are playing?

If there isn't, WHY?

I'm sure these parents would go and buy a bottle of vodka for their kids or buy them some pornography or horror film would they?

why are video games treated differently in this respect?ModernWarfare2 (ps3,360,PC) CERT-18, Kids %26amp; Parents...?
I'm 28 man, and I got the game yesterday. Nobody asked me how old I was either. I played the mission that gave the game the 18 rating, and I didn't see too much wrong with it. If it weren't for 9/11, it probably wouldn't be such a big deal. Remember, it's just a video game. When I fired up the game yesterday on XBOX LIVE, I had an update automatically, which brought up a screen that told me that a mission on the game could be offensive, and I can skip it or play it. It was a good decision for them to make, but I still didn't see the big deal about it. Maybe I'm just an insensitive a**hole.ModernWarfare2 (ps3,360,PC) CERT-18, Kids %26amp; Parents...?
It has an age limit of 18 so there shouldn't be any kids playing it. Unfortunately though, you have all these idiotic modern parents who don't quite seem to understand the concept of age restriction.

@ Decoy: Tell Activision who're making over $9000 million to stop kids from buying and playing their games.

Its a game man this question is pointless it completely different from vodka, porn, and horror.
MAximus is right that message is on the screen once you start campaign, of coarse i said No! i will not get offended. Iam 20 and i dont want to see those punk kids online! lets face it they camp alot haha. But some are cool and i enjoy playing with them. However maybe you see kids there cause there brothers left the game in the x-box. Cod is not that bad except for like the 3rd level where you are undercover and shoot all these civilians...that was...kinda bad.
hummmmmmm
i guarantee that you guys don't want us kids online because you get you a** kicked by us every match. and we kids don't buy the games, our parents get them for us. we're better at the games and will never stop playing. THERE IS NO EVIDENCE THAT VIOLENT VIDEO GAMES LEAD TO VIOLENT BEHAVIOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i have seen test where they gave a kid that played these games a gun and first he didn't know how to shoot. second he cried after he shot. and third he wouldn't shoot again.
Why are you playing online with children anyway if they are that bad?

Find another game lobby to play in

And I have 2 sons 13 %26amp; 11 and I know what they are playing thank you. Don't tar all parents with the same brush, my husband plays the games before the boys are allowed on them to view the content. Surely it is better for the children to play these games in a family environment where any questions can be answered about the game. As long as the children know you don't do this for real and it is only a game.

We haven't bought the MW2 as we need to check it first but a lot of their school friends already have it.
