You are not the only person experiencing a problem w/ your PS3, millions of other users are all going through the same thing. Myelf included.
From what I have read, there is nothing we can do as of right now except wait for the problem (Error code 8001050F) to be resolved. Sony will most likely release a patch for this problem soon. I would be careful playing games since people are saying that certain games they play are causing their trophies and game saves to dissappear. So I would just look out for that.
I would go to www.gamefaqs.com or www.ztpsocialboard.proboards.com And check the PS3 boards for info on what people are experiencing w/ this error.

Give me a f*cking break. Computers %26amp; software %26amp; severs are not perfect. The PS3 is no different. Bugs %26amp; glitches happen; that's just how it is. Just wait for Sony to fix the problem. I pity anyone who is b*tching about not being able to play for a couple days and demanding refunds or threatening lawsuits because of an internal clock issue. It shows that they don't have a life. I'm glad I have college classes %26amp; homework to take up my day.
Google it.
Yeah i doubt they will do it though im thinking about just getting a slim one because this is bull**** but then ovecourse i wont get anything from gamestop so it would be a waste of money either way were screwed if PSN doesnt do anything to fix this
go right ahead and let us know if you have any luck..then we'll follow...
If that is the case, then I should ask Toyota to give me a new car because my 2010 model is on recall... but it's a brainless conclusion...
You Could try. But the would probably say, by the time they have sent it to you the servers would be fixed
You know i hear about problems with the PSN and some that state that its the leap year problem. He77 some even said its SKYNET taking over lol but MY PROBLEM IS (and i dont read too many discussions on this but) WHY WOULD SONY MAKE A SYSTEM THAT RELIED TOO HEAVILY ON ITS PSN. I dont understand with having to sync the trophies in order to start up a game. Why do we need the PSN to work in order for us to play our games. Fony relies on its network and syncing data that it stops us from playing our games. I've read other questions that said the gamers didnt even have internet or had not even got on it and still got the same error message. Even us that have internet and are on PSN and it wouldnt even let us on are still having problems. THE REAL QUESTION HERE IS: why would sony even make a gaming system that doesnt let you play a game if there networks are down. Yes of course i understand that some games that dont have trophy sync issues do still work but what about games that do. Why not fix that problem and let us play our games whenever we want to!!! Thats the real PROBLEM! whos with me?
It's actually not really Sony's fault. The bug exists in the built-in logic of a microchip that manages the real time clock (RTC) on the fat PS3. Sony (as far as I know) does not manufacture or program that chip, they just use the chip on their machines. The bug in the chip has caused the system time to revert the date to 1999/2000. It's really the fault of the chip manufacturer.
The problems with trophies and PSN are simply a result of relying on the system clock to perform critical operations like Digital Rights Management. To a degree, this is Sony's fault, but really the original problem was completely outside Sony's control.
Note that PSN is not ';down';, it's just your console cannot negotiate a connection with PSN because it requires that your console pass a valid date/time stamp. Normally you can play off-line games without a network connection, but the date issue has caused problems with handling of the trophies.
You are not entitled to a new console, but you are entitled to have your console fixed in a timely manner (even if that means a recall).
