Also would like more of an indepth answer then just a ';Yes';, please explain how I would go about setting it up, thanks very much to all that respond. Will I be able to go online with my PS3?
ok the obvious question is is there a router sitting between ur cable and pc or does the ethernet cable plug directly into ur pc. in any case, if u dont use pppoe dialer from the pc itself then chances are u dont need to do anything but connect the ethernet cable to the ps3 and select easy setup from ps3 network settings menuWill I be able to go online with my PS3?
Step 1: Unplug EVERYTHING from your modem and wait 2 FULL minutes.
Step 2: Plug everything back up BUT instead of hooking the internet cable to your computer, hook it up to your PS3. Then wait 1 minute
Step 3: Turn on your PS3, go to settings%26gt; network settings%26gt; internet connection test. (then click on easy and on the rest just click automatic and leave everything else as it be). Then when finished go to connection test
Step 4: Part 3, if you did not already, go to connection test.
Step 5: Create your PlayStation Network account.
Step 6: Have fun playing online :D
Remember do the same thing when hooking it back up to your computer, just the part about unhooking everything and waiting 2 minutes
You'll need a router or network hub to divide the internet connection to the PC and the PS3.
You'll need 2 more CAT5 ethernet cables. I've seen them sold as long as 100 feet.
Connect the modem to the uplink port on the router or hub. Connect the PC to one of the channels on the router or hub and setup the PC internet connection again if necessary. Connect the PS3 to another channel on the router or hub.
Choose internet connection settings in the network settings. Choose easy. PS3 detects the setup and sets up the PS3 accordingly.
Done.
