First off... do you mean this?

First and foremost it connects directly to your PC, not your internet modem, so in order for it work you computer needs to be on. In other words if your want to play PS3 online you'll need to make sure you turn you computer on as well. I'm pretty sure it may not work with Macs either.. as other WiFi Max products do not. The company does have much of anything in regards to online support. They don't seem to even mention the product on there website.

You ';should'; be able to setup a wireless access key (password) on both the WiFi Max and the PS3 so no one else can pickup your signal and use it. According to reviews of similar WiFi Max products you can anyway. Those reviews also mentioned that such products can have less signal range then an actual router.. being that it's USB powered.

Honestly, my recommendation to you would maybe shop around and look into some actual WiFi routers from brands like LinkSys and Netgear... see if they have any good deals. That way you can plug up straight to your router and not need to have your computer on and I have a feeling they'd work better as well. Specially if someone is using that computer while your playing PS3. With a legitimate computer router you'll be able to connect to the PS3 just as well, you'll definately be able to set a password/key, and you be sure it'll work well for any other WiFi devices you get.

However, if you wanna go for it, I'm sure the WiFi Max will work decently... it just seems less convenient to me personally and I'd imagine an actual router would provide a faster connection, though I could be wrong.

Here are some links to some such routers...

Also, here's a link to the Sony website regarding WiFi setup.. unfortunately I couldn't find much regarding router recommendations..

Most routers will give a good connection, yes it will appear on other peoples wireless networks up to a certain range. But if you put a password on it, know one else will be able to access it.

All you need is a modem and that connects to the router and your PS3 will pick up your router wirelessly so there isn't any need for wires.
I used to use this for my psp and my ps3 a few months back works quite well, you get a software disc with it to install all the drivers and a cool program which allows you to convert your videos to mp4 fromat (handy for psp) People can see your network SSID but just put a password on it and no on can use it.

Hope this helps :)

Oh and if you are going to buy it, buy it from play.com only 拢17.99
